Rice Cereal is a success!

Tonight we tried rice cereal for the first time. Our pediatrician gave us the green light at Jackson's 4 month appointment, but we just didn't feel he was ready yet. However, lately he has been watching us as we eat, grabbing at our food/utensils and just all around curious....so we thought it was time.

At first he made a stink face, then it grew on him. With each spoonful, he would swallow half and spit out half. Towards the end, he was grabbing the spoon to feed himself and wanted to suck it out of the bowl. He had a smile on his face the whole time....I think Shane and I got a kick out of it more than Jackson....

New Years Day = First Boo Boo

We had our first boo boo. Yes I know, there are more to come, but we had our first one and I need to blog about it. So Jackson now is rolling like crazy, most of the time, before we even lay him down, he is rolling in (or out rather) our arms.

On New Years Day, I was just finishing up getting ready and I asked Shane to watch Jackson. Since we were all downstairs, I thought it would be fun to let Jackson roll around on in the living room (we mostly let him roll around upstairs where it's carpeted). We moved the coffee table/ottoman over, laid his play mat on the rug and let him go. 30 seconds later, I hear a thump and Jackson started crying. I tried really hard not to overreact because I knew Shane was watching him....I looked over and Shane said, "Oh, he just hit his arm on the leg of the ottoman."
10 minutes later, I look over and Jackson's forehead was all red and swollen on one side....but he was happy. I called Shane over and said, "I don't think it was his hand honey...."

Happy New Year!

I don't know a great way to start this post. A lot of people I know are giving 2009 the finger, but as I sit back and reflect on 2009 I guess I would say that I am indifferent with it. 2009 gave us the greatest blessing of our lives; Jackson - but we also have several struggles that gave us more grey hairs than we needed.
Rather than ramble on about our ups and downs, I have decided to post my favorite pictures from each month. July-December were hard because I took about 100 pictures A DAY.
2010 - welcome to our lives. We are the Makanani's and we are ready to take you on. Please be nice to us, we are good people. Please continue to keep us happy, healthy and on the right track...whatever that may be.
