Malia’s Newborn Photos

Can’t have maternity and birth photos and NOT have newborn photos. Justine came over 10 days after Malia was born to snap some photos of our precious little princess.  Here are a few of my favorites:

And my good friend Jenny with Tayter Bug Design custom designed Malia’s birth announcement. She did such an awesome job – I was so excited to send them out!

1 month old

4 weeks, 32 days, 1 month old. She is growing up way too fast!

I think I am still on a high after having Malia. I just can’t stop holding, kissing, loving, snuggling and wanting to be with her 24/7.  I’m not sure when this high will wear off, but I don’t think it will be anytime soon.  Malia fits into our family so well – and she takes all of the kisses and smothering from her brother without one peep.  We can’t imagine what our lives would be like without her – she is just perfect.

STATS:

Weight: 10 lbs, 3oz. (75th percentile)
Height: 23 inches (99th percentile)
Head: 14.5inches (50th percentile)

Here are the latest and greatest about our little princess:

*Eating every 3 hours (this just started over the weekend – before it was every 2-2.5 hours)

*Eats like a CHAMP – I still tell her during every nursing session how proud I am of her.

*Introduced the bottle this week as I had my best friend’s bachelorette party to attend. Malia took the bottle so well – and even took the pumped milk right out of the fridge.

*She still isn’t sold on the binkie. She’ll take it for about 5 minutes and then spit it out.

*Malia would LOVE to be held all day. Seriously, she could be screaming her lungs out and once I pick her up and snuggle her – she is asleep in my arms almost instantly. So glad you can’t spoil a newborn.

*Just like her brother, she wanted NOTHING to do with being swaddled. I swear we have the only babies in the world that HATE being swaddled.

*Malia’s nicknames are: Honey Girl, Honey baby, Peanut and “Yee-Yah” (this is what Jackson calls her).

*Wearing 3 month onesies and newborn pants.

*In size 1 diapers.

*Cries before every poop.

*Isn’t a lady when it comes to her farts – they are EXPOLOSIVE and LOUD! She’d put some college frat boys to shame!

* Loves to be worn –yesssssssssssssss!

*Has been to more places in her first month than her brother went in a year.

*The first 3 weeks Jackson had to kiss Malia 100x a day. Now he’s down to maybe 3x a day. I loved it when he loved her…..hoping that will come back again soon :)

*Has just started sleeping in the co-sleeper. Breaks my heart as she would MUCH rather sleep with me….and only me. But alas, my husband must come back to bed :)

*When she cries (which is VERY rare) her forehead scrunches up and she gets one little red mark on her forehead.

Malia’s BIRTH photos

After a MUCH anticipated wait, they have arrived – Malia’s birth photos.  Justine took over 700 photos, so I knew it would be awhile before I got them in hand, and the wait was well worth it.  She gave me over 100 edited photos – but I’ll post my favorites.

I know people probably think it’s weird that I had a photographer in the room, witnessing such a personal moment – but I don’t regret it for one second. Yes, she took photos of my junk – but I don’t care, in the moment I was SO happy she was there to document such an amazing experience for our family. And the after birth photos –ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS.  I know that every year on Malia’s birthday, I will look at these photos and cry – tears of happiness.  What a beautiful day this was, and Justine – THANK YOU for being there and providing our family with such cherished memories.

The labor photos of me look AWFUL – but after battling the flu the day before, 3 failed IV attempts and a completely drug-free labor….I was bound to look pretty haggard!M-6  M-10 M-11 M-44M-12  M-25 M-32 M-34 M-35 M-36 M-37 M-39 M-40

I know I’ve said it a million times, but I can’t thank my mom and husband enough. They were such a great team together, getting me through each contraction and every push was like it was the first one. The moment Malia arrived was such a special moment for all 3 of us (and Malia) – we are all bonded in a way no one will ever understand.
