6 months old

 

How did this happen? We have a 6 month old! Shane and I still, everyday, talk about the day Jackson was born,  and the days following. How little, fragile, and new he was.  How he could barely open his eyes, how he slept all day, and how he was so dependent on us.  Trust me, he still depends on us for everything – but every new day, he learns a new skill, a new way of looking at life or just a way to grow up faster than he already is.

His 6 month appointment is next week, so I’ll get his stats out then, but here are some milestones that Jackson has accomplished in the last month or so:

· Up by 7, down by 8:30.  (This is a new development and I don’t wanna jinx it ;)

· Jackson is a rolling machine and doesn’t mind being on his tummy for long periods of time.

· He is a buckin bronco in the bath tub and is splashing with his feet and hands every chance he gets.

· He reaches and grabs for everything.  The whole world has opened up to him.

· He has realized that he has not one but TWO Hands!

· He is responding to us vocally when we talk to him and I swear he can say hi already.

· He and Kona are BFF and he grabs for him and smiles at him all the time.  I think he finds Kona hilarious.

· He likes to sit in his crib when he wakes up and talk for about 10 minutes.  To who?  We have no idea.

· Jackson is caressing our hands as we feed and hold him, it’s pretty cute.

· His voice is developing and he can now make even higher, blood curdling screams (YAY!).

· He can pull and put his binkster (pacifier) in and out of his mouth with ease. However, in the middle of the night, this skill is completely lost.

· Jackson knows when it’s time to eat. As soon as either Shane or I put him horizontal, he starts coughing like “cough, cough, cough, gimmie my food, cough, cough cough”. We just laugh at him.

· Jackson thinks his grandpa & Papa are freakin’  hilarious! Anytime either one of them holds him, he instantly has a smile and usually starts cracking up.

· Although we are currently on a break from solids while we sleep train. Jackson loves him some rice cereal. Solids were definitely a success.

· Jackson can sit up on his own, he does it all the time. Of course, when I try to get it on video, he gets lazy.

· Jackson STILL only poops once every 4 days.

· Jackson STILL only poops once every 4 days. And because of this, we have thrown out, count ‘em, 4 plain white onesies and 3 jammies.

· Mark my words, Jackson will be crawling by next month. He is already lifting off and scooting…..it’s only a matter of time at this point.

· Jackson is an AWESOME napper. That’s right, I said napper. He let’s me know when he’s tired, I lay him down in his crib and a few minutes later he is OUT…..for at least 45 minutes!

· When Jackson gets on a talking roll, he makes this “old man” face.  Pretty much looks like an old man missing his dentures (picture below).

 

  

 

 

Jackson – our baby, you make us happier than we ever thought possible. Happy 6 months baby boy, we love you more than words. We love you more today, than yesterday.
