As I am sure all of you readers out there are DYING to know: How did sleep-training with Jackson go?
Well, we are on Night 3 and so far (the book indicates after 3 nights, you are pretty set), so good. But, before I update on his progress, first let me remind you how our nights were going PRIOR to sleep-training:
PRIOR nights:
9:30pm - 50z bottle to get Jackson to sleep
10:00pm - Jackson would fall asleep
10:10pm - Awake and pissed. Binkie and sing back to sleep
10:30pm - repeat of 10:10pm event
10:45pm – Asleep
12:00am - Awake and pissed. Binkie, rock & sing back to sleep
2:00-2:30am - Repeat of 12:00am event
3:00-3:30am – Awake and pissed. Nurse back to sleep
6:30am-7:00am – Up for the day
Night 1 of sleep training:
8:00pm – Bath, book and 4oz bottle
8:40pm – Jackson put into crib awake but drowsy. Begin Crying It Out.
9:05pm – Asleep
12:00am – Awake. Binkie back to sleep
2:00am – Repeat of 12:00am event
3:30am - Awake and pissed. Nurse back to sleep
6:30am – Up for the day
Night 2 of sleep training:
8:00pm – Bath, book and 3oz bottle
8:30pm - Jackson put into crib awake but drowsy. Begin Crying It Out.
8:40pm – Asleep
3:30am - Awake and pissed. Nurse back to sleep
7:00am – Up for the day
8:00pm – Bath, book and 3oz bottle
8:30pm - Jackson put into crib awake but drowsy. Begin Crying It Out.
8:35pm – Asleep
4:30am - Awake. Nurse back to sleep
7:00am – Up for the day
As you can see, it has gotten better every night we have followed the plan. We are slowly weaning him off his bedtime bottle, so he doesn’t associate bottle with sleep. Each night, the crying was shorter, and the span of sleep was longer. I can’t tell you how shocked, excited and happy this makes our whole family that it worked. Shane and I are now regretful we didn’t do this EARLIER!
I will update again in a week or so to show what his subsequent nights have looked like. Wish us luck!
